What is an online astrology reading?

An online astrology reading is a video session with a professional astrologer who analyses your birth chart together with you. The session takes place on Zoom, Google Meet, or similar platforms; the astrologer shares their screen to show your chart and explains the symbols, positions of the planets in the houses, aspects, and current transits.

The format is essentially identical to an in-person reading — the only real difference is the medium. After 2020, online consultations have become the norm: they remove the geographic constraint (you can work with an astrologer in another city or another country), are easier to fit into a busy schedule, and often come with a recording you can review at your own pace.

Useful at moments of choice: a possible career change, a relationship beginning, a move, a relevant family event. Duration: 60 minutes.

3. Synastry (couple chart)

A comparative reading between two natal charts: yours and your partner's, a co-founder, a parent. The astrologer overlays the two maps and analyses the recurring dynamics. The session can be done together or solo, but the most useful synastries are those that include both people. Duration: 75–90 minutes.

How to choose a serious astrologer

Since astrology is not legally regulated in Italy, the real quality filter is your own attention. Here are the criteria that, in practice, separate a competent professional from a generic one.

Green flags — signs of professionalism

• Declared and verifiable training. The astrologer states clearly where they studied (CIDA, SOI Apotélesma, Kepler College, or other recognised schools), for how long, and which method they use (modern Western astrology, classical, evolutionary, Vedic).
• Honest description of what astrology can do. A serious astrologer presents the work as a symbolic language for self-reflection, not as a deterministic prediction. They never replace medical, psychological, or financial advice.
• Transparent prices, published on the website. No quotes 'on request' and no upsells during the session. You know what you're paying before booking.
• Clear approach to the time of birth. The astrologer asks for your time of birth and, if you don't have it, explains how birth-time rectification works and what its limits are. They never pretend to know the rising sign without solid data.
• Recorded session or written summary. Most serious online astrologers send an audio recording of the session or a brief written summary so you can review the key points without taking notes during the call.

Red flags — when to step away

• Health, legal, or financial promises. “I can tell you whether you'll get well”, “you'll find love in three months”, “invest now in this asset”. An astrologer who pretends to make predictions of this kind is operating outside the ethics of the discipline — and, on health issues, can mislead you into delaying treatment that you actually need.
• Pressure on additional packages during the session. Repeated rituals, “protective” talismans to buy, “essential” follow-up consultations at increasing prices. A serious astrologer reads the chart and ends the session.
• Catastrophist or fear-based language. “Saturn will destroy your year”, “you have a terrible aspect”. The chart contains tensions, but a professional reading frames them as work areas, not as sentences.
• No information about the astrologer. A site with only a stage name, no professional background, no transparent prices, no real reviews. If the astrologer is invisible, you have no way to assess what you're paying for.

If you're going through depression, anxiety, persistent physical symptoms, or relational difficulties that disrupt daily life, the right step is a doctor, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist. An astrologer can be a useful companion alongside that path — never a substitute.
• It is not a financial or legal forecast. No astrologer can tell you whether a specific investment will work or whether you'll win a legal dispute. Such questions require, respectively, a financial advisor and a lawyer.
• It is not a deterministic prediction. The chart describes tendencies and timing windows, not events written in stone. Anyone presenting astrology this way is selling a product that doesn't match the consensus of the serious astrological community itself.
• It is not a substitute for personal decisions. The reading offers a perspective, not an answer. The choice — to leave a job, end a relationship, move — remains yours, with all the responsibility that comes with it.

From a strictly scientific point of view, astrology has never demonstrated predictive validity in double-blind studies — the best-known reference is the Carlson study published in Nature in 1985, which found no statistically significant association between natal charts and personality profiles. This does not mean a reading is “useless”: many people find it helpful as a structured language to look at themselves. It simply means that's how astrology should be presented — and used.

How much does it cost and how long does it last?

In Italy, the prices of an online astrology reading vary based on the astrologer's experience and the type of consultation. Here are the realistic ranges as of 2026:

• Natal chart reading (75–90 min): €80–€150 for experienced professionals. €150–€250 for astrologers with very long training (15+ years) and an established reputation.
• Focused transit reading (60 min): €60–€100. Useful as a follow-up to a natal chart you've already had read.
• Synastry / couple chart (75–90 min): €100–€200, depending on whether the session is done as a couple or alone.
• Below €30 or completely free: with very rare exceptions (introductory sessions for new astrologers building their portfolio), prices like these signal either training-level practice or, more often, a content that is generic and not actually based on personal data.

One last practical note: payment usually goes through bank transfer, PayPal, Stripe, or Satispay. Always ask for an invoice — a serious professional issues it without hesitation.
